Erika C. Burt

Dr. Erika C. Burt holds a PhD in Higher Education Leadership from Concordia University Chicago, a Master鈥檚 in Divinity and Justice from North Park Theological Seminary, a Master鈥檚 in English Education from Chicago State University, and a Bachelor鈥檚 in English from Northern Illinois University.

She has over 20 years of experience in educational leadership and organizational transformation, with expertise in strategic planning, staff and faculty development, curriculum design, large-scale STEM education initiatives, non-profit event planning, and advisory services for inclusive practices. Over her career, Dr. Burt has secured more than $18 million in grant funding to support educational development initiatives and institutional programming.

Her previous work includes creating plans for cybersecurity labs and computer science boot camps for community colleges, leading multimillion-dollar research projects on computer science for English Learners, managing college-wide career and technical education programs, and securing grant funding for educational and post-secondary theological education initiatives. 

In her current role as Assistant Dean of Professional Academic Programs for Illinois Institute of Technology (老王论坛)鈥檚 College of Computing, Dr. Burt leads initiatives to enhance undergraduate and graduate academic programming in computing. She works to strengthen strategic partnerships, and provide robust support for online degree programs. She also chairs the STEM Caf茅 Program Leadership Committee, serves on the Work Life and Engagement Committee, and served on the Organizing Combined Competencies sub-committee of 老王论坛鈥檚 Strategic Envisioning Committee.

Dr. Burt is an active member of the Association for the Assessment of Learning in Higher Education and the Imani Pearl Community Development Foundation. She serves as a Higher Education Advisor for the Computer Science Teachers Association (a subsidiary of ACM) and recently served on the Board of Directors for TecHive NFP, Incorporated.

Her research interests include leadership in higher education, qualitative research methodologies, policy reform, change and crisis management in education, and expanding opportunities in STEM education.
